| Short description: | The aim of the course is the acquaint students with the structure, organization, function and court jurisdiction in Poland. The students learn the basic concepts and terms in, explains how to follow the law and Veterinary Medicine ethic. Students learn the competence to an expert witness in the field of veterinary medicine. During the course can formulate an expert opinion. They learn the method of animal tissue examination and other material evidence. |
| Full description: | The objectives of this course are to enable the students the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of veterinary medicine carrying profession. The students receive a credit of Forensic Veterinary and have the ability to occur in polish court, to edit veterinary documents and especially experts opinion and the students can be the translators to render services for jurisdiction about Forensic Veterinary because this is needed to settlement of a court dispute. The course provide some laboratory identification of animal species on the basis tissue pieces. |

| Learning outcomes: | Knowledge: - describes the structure, organization, function and court jurisdiction in Poland - explains causes of animal's death - the most common mistakes in veterinary field - explains how to follow the law and Veterinary Medicine ethic Skills: - have the competence to an expert witness in the field of veterinary medicine - can formulate an expert opinion based on the case file, collected samples and results of laboratory examinations - examinate animal tissue and other material evidence Social competences: - yourself carry out the functions an expert witness in the field of veterinary medicine |
| Assessment methods and assessment criteria: | Forensic Veterinary: The rating obtained for the classes of 50% and an assessment of credit obtained from the lectures 50% credit/exam. Form: Lectures-15 h.; laboratory classes 15 h. Assessment : The lectures consists of presentations. The students should have theoretical knowledge on every exercise because veterinary problems are diverse; for example suddenly death of animals, the examination of material evidence or keeping no acts. Final test consists of three parts: medical, legal and material evidence part and includes the knowledge of lectures and exercises. Minimal knowledge 60%. |
